Theatrical Fry-up at the Alma A new play by Bristol writer Tim Massey debuts at the Alma Tavern in Clifton from 14 to 19 May. Bacon Sandwich is set early in the morning of Wendy and Greg’s wedding day. The bride and chief bridesmaid wake up on a deserted train while the groom and best man are guests of the local constabulary. Four Weddings and a Funeral meets Men Behaving Badly in the 75-minute comedy to be presented by cpa@uwe, a company based in the Centre for Performing Arts at the University of the West of England. Bacon Sandwich is Tim’s follow-up to Have-a-Go Hero, which scored a hit at the Alma last July and transferred to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August. Peter Lathan of about.com nominated Tim ‘Most Promising Young Playwright’ of the Fringe 2000 and cpa@uwe ‘Best Student Company’. Directed by UWE drama tutor Ned Milne, the production will combine the talents of students from the University, Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and local actors. The show is supported by UWE; M J Rees and Company Ltd chartered land surveyors; and South West Arts through local writers’ group Southwest Scriptwriters.
